Lanner School's 30th 'Birthday' Celebration
The afternoon of Friday 24th September saw Lanner School celebrating the 30th birthday of the 'new' school buildings. The celebrations started with a traditional afternoon tea treat of pasty and saffron bun on the playground for the children and ended with a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday', played by the Lanner contingent of the Lanner Brass Academy - the children's section of the Lanner and District Silver Band. The children and staff were joined by many parents who enjoyed tea and cakes whilst watching the Brass Academy perform. We were all impressed by their talented performance! Parents and children were given the opportunity to purchase a school tea towel, depicting the children's self-portraits, to commemorate the occasion. A time capsule, containing pictures, thoughts and comments from all the children, will also be sealed to mark the celebrations. We would like to thank everyone who gave their time in organising, taking part or donating cakes for our birthday celebrations. We look forward to the next 30 years!
